All Ages They slide down tables. They knock down speakers. They yowl and pound and thrash and... squeak. The Evaporators work hard for their funny. For well over ten years, The Evaporators have earned a reputation as one of Canada's most entertaining live bands, blending rollicking garage rock with some persistent onstage energy, side-spitting humour, and some very snazzy outfits. Their live shows are not simply concerts: they are raging, out of control parties that make the film Animal House resemble a church picnic. Led by the boundlessly enthusiastic Nardwuar the Human Serviette on vocals and organ, the shows also include an abundance of audience participation and spontaneous stunts that keep the crowd grinning from ear to ear. In addition to the evenings rawk, Nardwuar of the Evaporators will be showing his "Video Vault" of interviews he has done over the years for Canadian Cable Acess Tv! Check out clips of Snoop Doggy Dogg, Mikhail Gorbachev, Michael Moore, Marilyn Manson, Henry Rollins, Joan Jett, Blur, Vanilla Ice, Iggy Pop, and lots moreŠ all presented live to you on the big screen. Kicking the night off are The Carrots (Austin, Tx) and The Coconut Coolouts (Seattle). www.theevaporators.com Saturday, June 7 Olympia Comics Festival 5:30pm doors/6:00pm show Suggested $1.00 donation at the door ALL AGES This year's special guests are Jeffrey Brown, known for his candid autobiographical accounts of failed relationships; Jim Woodring, who draws silent comics about a strange creature in a stranger world; and Michel Gagne an animator/illustrator who's worked on films like Ratatouille and publishes his own comic, The Saga of Rex. OFS Art Gallery Conor Peterson Photography Showing May 3rd - June 13th Free Reception on Saturday, May 3rd from 4:00pm –6:00pm Eclectic but concerned, local photographer Conor Peterson showcases an arresting but colorful tribute to the Family in its variations (in collaboration with Bethany Hays); his passion for extinct American silverware patterns in a series of photographic blue-prints; and an allegory about the erosion of human-to-human connections within our increasingly malignant technological climate. "Absolutely lightweight material," Peterson promises. "The perfect thinking material for a hasty bathroom break." He may or may not be joking. Come by and see.
